2014 Wrapped Up.

As another school year comes to a close, it is time to reflect back on all that has taken place in 2014.

Once again our member schools enjoyed the opportunity to compete in a variety of carnivals such as swimming, basketball, football, netball, volleyball, soccer, league-tag, cross country, athletics and cricket. We feel that we have a well rounded and comprehensive program of carnivals that provide exciting learning experiences for our students, including  programmed events in the athletics carnival for our students with special needs.

We saw the introduction of the CPSSA website which will continue to be a hub of information, results and photos for all our communities to access. Our CPSSA officials looked smart in their new team uniform that helps make us stand out on carnival days as well as feel like a team.

Some of our CPSSA officials took part in the ACHPER (Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation) ‘Game Sense’ PD as well as the ACHPER State Conference in order to upskill themselves for the years ahead. Also coming up is a professional development day run by the CPSSA that will focus on Physical Education programming and assessment.

Thank you to the Principals at each school for their ongoing support of the CPSSA. With the difficult task of managing school budgets, we are fortunate that our schools see the value of sport and physical activity by paying for relief teachers and buses so that our students can compete at our events.

Thank you to our hard working PE teachers for their commitment and dedication in ensuring that their teams are well prepared and that our carnivals run smoothly. We meet twice a term to discuss the logistics and programs of our events, as well as engaging in discussions for the purposes of professional development.

We say goodbye to Kate Mavric from Orana who will take up a new position in 2015, and to Suzie Fetter who will return to her home of Canada as the end of her one year teacher exchange program comes to a close. We would like to thank both ladies for their hard work this year and wish them all the best for the future
