Cricket Champs!

Our final carnival of the year was an exciting one, with 36 teams playing in 4 divisions on 9 fields. With WACA representatives looking on, our students performed brilliantly as they bowled and batted their way to some massive scores and nail-biting finishes.

Shields were taken home by Yidarra, Queen of Apostles and St Bernadette’s in a tight competition. With music playing on the speakers and the sun shining brightly, it was pretty hard not to enjoy the day’s action. Thank you to the many parents for coming along and being a part of the atmosphere, the WACA representatives for once again lending their support, and the many teachers involved in supervising and coaching our teams.

Yidarra On Top!

Congratulations to Yidarra for winning this year’s Athletics Carnival, and to St Bernadette’s for taking home the A.P.P.S. (Average Points Per Student) shield. With so many wonderful performances over the two days the action was very exciting to watch and be a part of. Once again the support from parents and friends was great to see, as it made for a great atmosphere of colour and cheering. Mater Christi Lead The Way!

Congatulations to Mater Christi CPS for taking out the 2015 Inter-school Cross Country carnival. They scored a whopping 1069 points, with St Bernadette’s (1018) and Yidarra (973) in hot pursuit. Once again the talent on display was amazing, with some runners seemingly barely breaking a sweat.  For others it wasn’t so easy, but their team mates cheered them on to give them that extra push they needed to cross the finish line. We were all very proud of our students’ efforts in this difficult event.

We had a wonderful turnout of parents to cheer on our students, some of which were volunteer helpers as course marshals. Thank you also to St John Ambulance officers in attendance in case of injury. For more pics go our photo gallery, and for a full list of results, click here.

League Tag Champs!

Congratulations to all our winning teams on what was an exciting and fun carnival for all. With plenty of help from volunteer referees thanks to Atwell College, and from W.A. Rugby League, the day ran smoothly with an abundance of talent and speed on display. Thank you to the many parents who came along to support our teams and create a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you to South Coogee Junior Football Club for providing a canteen, and the many teachers required to coach and supervise our teams.

Come and ‘TRY’ League Tag!

After  successful Lightning Carnival, it is now time to turn our attention to another exciting sport – one that gains a lot of interest from our students – League Tag.

This is a modified version of Rugby League. You may have caught some of the ‘State of Origin’ series recently between New South Wales and Queensland. In our game there is no tackling, instead a ‘tag’ is pulled off the velcro belt worn by players which is the equivalent of a tackle.

Once again the CPSSA will be supported by W.A. Rugby League in running the carnival, which will be held at our favourite sports ground – Santich Park.

We hope you can come along and watch our schools in action. All the details including program, rules and fixtures can be downloaded by clicking: 15LeaguetagPack8teams

Lightning Strikes!

All is set for our annual winter carnival. The ‘Lightning Carnival’ is expected to see some 800 students from 9 schools compete in 4 sports at 3 venues.

Phew! That’s a lot of action.

Students will compete in football, netball, soccer and volleyball matches in round-robin competitions under the watchful eye of teachers, parents and CPSSA reps. We are also happy to have students from SEDA who will umpire our football and soccer matches.

Basketball Blitz!

Well done to the Star of the Sea boys and girls teams, and the St Jerome’s boys team for going through undefeated in a great display of skill and teamwork at Cockburn Basketball Stadium.
